Br His ExCELLENY THE GOVERNOR,
WHEREAS by Article 4 of the Hong Kong (Coinage) Order, 1936, (hereinafter referred to as the Order) it is provided that if any new coins are coined they shall, from a date fixed by the Governor in a Proclama- tion made with the approval of the Commissioners of His Majesty's Treasury and a Secretary of State setting forth in a Schedule particulars of the metal, standard weight, remedy allowance and, in the case of silver coins, fineness, and provided that they have not been dealt with in any manner prohibited by law, be legal tender in the case of coins of denominations of not less than one dollar for the payment of an amount not exceeding one hundred dollars, and in the case of coins of other denominations for the payment of al amount not exceeding two dollars;

NOW THEREFORE 1. SIR ALEXANDER WILLJax George Header GRANTHAN, Knight Commander of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George, Governor and Commander-in-Chief of the Colony of Hong Kong and its Dependencies and Vice-Admiral of the sanie, by virtue and in exercise of the powers conferred by the said Article 4 of the Order with the approval of the Commissioners of His Majesty's Treasury and of the Secretary of State for the Colonies do hereby PROCLAIM AND FIX the sixteenth day of February, 1949, as the date from which the coins, particulars of which are set forth in the Schedule hereto, sball, provided that they have not been dealt with in any manner prohibited by law, be legal tender for an amount not exceeding two dollars,
