BY HIS EXCELLENCY THE Govelson).

WHEREAS by Article 2 of the Hong Kong (Coinage) Order, 1936,

it

is provided among other things that the Governor may with the approval of the Commissioners of His Majesty's Treasury and a Secretary of Stateş at any time declare by Proclamation that all or any of the coine referred to in the Schedule to the said Order shall, subject to a special provision in the case of British dollars, cease to be legal tender os from a date to be specified in the Proclamation and that such coins shall accordingly cesse to be legal tender as from such datę :

NOW THEREFORE I, SIR ALEXANDER WILLIAM George HeenURL GRANTHAM, Knight Commander of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George, Governor and Commander-in-Chief of the Colony of Hong Kong and its Dependencies and Vice-Admiral of the saune, in exercise of the powers conferred upon me by the said Article with tha approval of the Commissioners of His Majesty's Treasury and of the Secretary of State for the Colonies do hereby PROCLAIM AND DECLARE that the pure nickel ten cont and five cent pieces of the respective standard weights af 70 and 40 grains proclaimed to be legal tender on the 7th day of October, 1987, shall cease to be legal tender sa from the first day of June, 1949.
