PROCLAMATION.
Canstven
Oficer Administering the Government.
By His Excellency CLAUD SEVERN, Companion of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George, Officer Administering the Government of the Colony of Hongkong and its Dependencies:
Whereas by the Military Stores (Exportation) Ordinance, 1862, it is enacted that it should he lawful for the Governor, by and with the advice of the Executive Council by Proclamation to prohibit, for such period as should be mentioned in much Proclamation, either to be exported from the Colony of Hongkong, or to be carried coastwise within the said Colony (amongel other things) Arms, Annouition, Gunpowder, and Military and Naval Stores, and any articles which the Governor may judge capable of being converted into or made useful in increasing the quantity of Military or Naval Stores, or any or either of such Armus, Ammunition, Gunpowder, Stores, Goods or Articles respec- tively, subject to any permission that may be obtained under Section 3 of the Ordinance :
And whereas, by various Proclamations issued from time to time, such exportation and warriage constwise were prohibited, and remain prohibited until the 27th day of May, 1919, and it is expedient to contime such prohibition :
Now, therefore, I, CLAUD Severn, Companion of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George, Officer Administering the Government of the Colony of fongkong and its Dependencies, by and with the advice of the Executive Council of this Colony, de, by this Proclamation, prohibit for a further period of que year from and including the 28th day of May, 1919, either to be exporteil from the Colony of Hongkong, or to be carried coastwise within the said Colony, Arms, Amumuition, Gun- powder, Military and Naval Stores, Sulphur and Saltpetre, the last two being articles which I judge capable of being converted into or made useful in increasing the quantity of Military or Naval Stores, or any or either of such Arms, Amunnnition, Gunpowder, Stores, Goods or Articles respectively, unless this Proclamation shall, in the meantime, be revoked, or nuless permission shall have been obtained under Section 4 of the Ordi- nance above mentioned.
