By His Excellency Sir Francis Frary May Knight Commander of the Most Dis- tinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George Governor and Commander-in-Chief of the Colony of Hongkong and its Dependencies and Vice Admiral of the same:

Whereas by section 2 of the Chinese bumigration Ordinance 1895 it is enacted that whenever the Governur in Council is satisfied that cholera is prevalent or oxists in any other port or place and that there is danger of the introduction of the same into the Colony unless measures are taken to prevent the influx of Chinese the Governor in Council may by proclamation prohibit or regulate the fumigration or importation into the Colony of Chiñesa from such port or place for such time as he may think fit :

And whereas the Governor in Conucil is satisfied that cholera is prevalent and exists in Macao and that there is danger of the introduction of the same into the Colony unless measures are taken to prevent the inflax of Chinese :

Now therefore 1 Sir Flavors Hesny May Knight Commander of the Most Dia- tinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George Govenor and Commander-in-Chief of the Colony of Hongkong and its Dependencies and Vice-Admiral of the same by and with the advice of the Executive Council of this Colony and in virtue miul exercise of the aforesaid powers do by this proclamation prohibit the im migration into the Colony of Chinese from Macao for a period of one month from the date hereof.

Given under my hand and the Public Seal of the Colony at Victoria Hongkong this 16th day of August 1916.

The Chinese fatuigeration Ordinance, 185, provides, under penalty, that, while the ahovo proclamation remains in force, the following prwviziona und prohibitions must be olworved (---

(8) No vessel of any kind shall bring into the waters of the Colony from Macao any passenger of Chinese untionality or origin, ar ang passenger appearing to be of such matlouality or origin.

(b). No person of Chinesa nationality or origiu shall come into the Colony by fand or sea

(c) All vessels of every kind shull, où arriving within the waters of the Colony foot Macao, anchor at the quarantine anchorage prescribed by the quarantine regalations, and shall not leave such anchorige until allowed to do so by the norber of the Healthi Oliver.
