Whereas by the tenth section of the Special Police Reserve Ordinance 1911 us ennoted by the tenth section of the Hongkong Police Reserve Ordimnes 1917 it is pro- virled that the Governor may by proclamation whenever it appears to him advisable to do so call the Reserve out for service and that thereupon every person who is a member of the Reserve at the commencement of such proclamation und every person who becomes a member of the Reserve after the commencement of auch proclamation and before the issne of a proclamation cancelling such calling out shall have the same powers for the preservation of the peace the prevention of offences the apprehension of offenders and for all other purposes and the sune privileges protection and immunities as the members of the regular police force of corresponding rank and standing til flus Governor shall by proclamation cancel such calling out provided that the said section shall not confer any right to any pay or compensation or reward or any exemption From liability to jury

And whereas it appears to me advisable to call the Reserve out for service!
Now Therefore I Sir FRASCI HENRY MAY Knight Commander of the Most Distin- guished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George Governor and Commander-in-Chief of the Colony of Hongkong and its Dependencies and Vice-Admiral of the same do hereby by this proclamation call the longkong Police Reserve out for service.
