PROCLAMATION.

By lis Excellency Bir FRANCIS HESUT MAY Knight Commander of the Most Distinguishel Order of Suint Michael and Saint George Governor and Commander- in-Chief of the Colony of Hongkong and its Dependencies and Vice-Admiral of the

same :

Whereas by section 189 of the Army Act it is enacted that where the Governor of a Colony in which any of His Majesty's forces are serving declares at any time or times that by reason of the imminence of active service of of the recent existence of active service it is necessary for the public service that the forces in the Colony should be temporarily subject to the said Act as if they were on active service then on the publica- tion in general orders of any such declaration the forces to which the declaration applies shall be deemed to be on active service for the period mentioned in the declaration so that the period mentioned in any one declaration do not exceed three months from the date thereof:

And Whereas by declaration made on the 5th day of August 1914 it was declared by Proclamation published in the Government Gazette Extraordinary dated the 5th day of August 1911 to be necessary for the public service that flis Majesty's forces in the Colony he subject to the said Act for the period of three months from the date thereof as if they were on active service :

And Whereas by Proclamations made on the Ith day of November 1914, 3rd February, 30th April, 30th July, and 20th Octuber 1915, 2nd February, 2nd May, 28th July aml 27th October 1916, and 2nd February 1917 the said declaration was renewed for a period of three months from time to time:

And Whereas by a Proclamation nude on the 2nd day of May 1917 tho said declaration was renewed for a period of three months from the 3rd day of May 1917:
