POST-OFFICE NOTIFICATION.
Colonial Postage Stamps may be purchased at the General Post-Office, and all the British Postal Agencies in China and Japan. The Stamps represent the following
emounts in value:—
Two cents.....

Twelve cents................. .Six Pence.
It must be understood that the Postage
Eighteen cents.......Nine Pence. Twenty-four cents...One Shilling. .Fifteen Pence, Thirty cents........
Forty-eight cents.....Two Shillings. Ninety-six cents......Four Shillings. Labels of this Colony are alone available for the payment of postage on correspondence posted at the General Post-Office in Hongkong, or the Agencies thereof at Canton, Macao, Swatow, Amay, Fuochow-foo, Shanghai, Ningpo, Hankow, Hiogo, Nagasaki, and Yokohama.
They may be used on correspondence to places to which the prepayment of postage is either compulsory or optional; no credit will be given to these Stamps on correspond- ence addressed to places to which the postage cannot be prepaid in Hongkong.
All correspondence for places to which prepayment is compulsory must be prepaid in Hongkong Postage Stamps.
The latest time for posting letters by the English Mail Packet is 11 a.m.; by the French 11 A.M., and by the American, 2.30 r.a. on the day of sailing.
All letters posted by the English Mail Packet between 10 and 11 A.K. on the day
of sailing are chargeable in addition to the usual postage with a lule fee of 18 cents. Late Letters (but Letters only) addressed to the Cuited Kingdom, viá Brindisi,
or to Singapore, may be posted on board the English Packet from 11.80 a.. to the time of sailing, on payment of a Late Fee of 48 cents each in addition to the postage. Letters, &c., are received for registration up to 10 A.. on the day of departare of cach Packet with homeward Mails.
Letters can be posted on board the American Packet from 2.30 to 2.50 P.M. 00 payment of a Late Fee of 12 cents in addition to the Postage.
The Prepayment of the Postage to ail places by the American route is compulsory. Correspondence insufficiently prepaid will be forwarded by the English Packets.”
Correspondence addressed to Yokohama, and the United States, by American and that addressed to the United Packet, must be superscribed per
Kingdom must be superscribed “viá San Francisco.”
Sealed Boxes coutaining the correspondence of Box Holders will be received et the window set apart for the purpose on the East side of the Building. Insufficiently Stamped Letters addressed to the United Kingdom will be sent on, addition to the Postage. charged with a fine of One Shilling
Letters posted after 10 A.M. on the day of the sailing of the English Packet will not be forwarded unless the Late Fee as well as the postage is prepaid.
Postage Stamps should be placed on the upper right hand corner of the correspon- dance, except in cases where they may be used in payment of Fate Fecs, when the Stamp or Stamps representing Late Fees or Registration Fees should be placed on the lower loft hand corner.
All transactions in fractional parts of a Doller will be conducted in the Coins pre- scribed by Ordinance No. 1, 1864, and the Proclamation of the 22nd January, 1864, and no other Coins but those therain specified will either be received or given in chango as fractional parts of a Dollar.
Payment for Postage Stamps must be made in the Current Dollars of the Colony or Bank Notes.
Money Orders on any of the Money Order Offices in the United Kingdom are granted until 5 P.. on the day prior to the departure of each packet.
Money orders between Hongkong and the United Kingdom and between Hongkong and Shanghai, and Hongkong and Yokohama, are granted and paid daily botwcen 10 A.M. and 4 P.M. (Sundays and authorized holidays excopted).
