The Corporation grant Drafts, and negociate or collect Bills, payable at the above places, on terms which may be ascertained at their Office; they also issue Circular Notes and Letters of Credit for the use of Travellers by the Overland Route.
They undertake the Agency of Parties connected with India and the Colonies, make Investments in the Public Funds, and other British and Foreign Securities, and receive Pay, Pension, Dividends, and Interest, free of charge to constituents.
They also receive Deposits of £100 and upwards, repayable (in one sum) at a notice of 10 days, and allow interest thereon at 1 per cent. below the Bank of England's mini- mum rate of Discount,-rising and falling therewith, but not rising above 5 per cent. Deposits subject to longer notices of withdrawal, or for fixed Terms, generally bear higher rates, which may be ascertained on application at their Office.
Applications for the sanction of the Directors to Credits established by firms here in favour of parties abroad must be sent in not less than three days before despatch of the Mail, otherwise they will be deferred until the Mail following. Bills for Collec- tion in India and the Colonies and other transactions involving correspondence by the Overland Mails, also applications for Drafts, are required to be sent in one clear day before the day of despatch.
The Corporation undertake the safe custody of Indian and Colonial Government Paper, Shares in the Capital Stock of the Government Banks and other Local Stocks, and draw Interest and Dividends on the same as they fall due.
They also make the necessary Registry of Indian Government Loan Notes, su as to obtain payment of the Interest in Englan-l.
