Inquiry into ferry and tanker collision ordered
The acting Director of Marine, Mr S Y Tsui, has ordered a local marine inquiry into the collision between a hover ferry and a tanker yesterday (Thursday) morning, a Marine Department spokesman said today (Friday).
In accordance with the powers granted under section 58 of the Shipping and Port Control Ordinance, Mr Tsui appointed Surveyor of Ships (Nautical), Mr S H Tse, to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision.
The collision was happened at about 9.50 am yesterday between the locally licensed hover ferry "HYF 120" and locally licensed tanker "Feoso Eight" about 9.50 am yesterday when they are about 0.6 nautical mile south east of Tsing Yi Island.
Nine passengers on board the hover ferry were injured in the impact.

Restored historic ancestral hall to be opened
The Tang Kwong U Ancestral Hall, built in 1701 during the reign of Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty, will be open to the public following a rehabilitation ceremony on Sunday (June 30).
The ancestral hall is situated in Kam Tin, Yuen Long. It was used for worshipping ancestors of the Tangs who settled in the area more than eight hundred years ago. Because of its historical significance, it was deemed a monument by the Government in November 1994.
