The Director of Education will continue to serve as the Vice-chairman of the Board, and the Deputy Secretary for Education and Manpower as a member, both in their ex-officio capacity.
Mr Wong thanked the retiring Chairman, Dr Tam Man-kwan, for his leadership and his contribution to the Board over the last two years.
"Dr Tam initiated two significant reviews during his term as the Chairman of the Board, namely, the review on nine-year compulsory education which is on going and that on special education which has just been completed and the results of which are currently under public consultation," Mr Wong said.
He also thanked the three retiring members. Sister Marie Remedios, Mr Herman Hu and Mr Sheung Kwok-chu, for their dedication and good work.
The Chairman and all members of the Board are appointed on a two-year term starting July 1.
The appointments have been made by Secretary for Education and Manpower under delegated authority of the Governor under section 7 of the Education Ordinance.
