Statistics of liquidated limited companies
Following is a question by the Hon Chim Pui-chung and a written reply by the acting Secretary for Financial Services, Mrs Lessie Wei, in the Legislative Council today (Wednesday):
Question:
Will the Government inform this Council:
(a)
(b)
of the number of limited companies registered in Hong Kong which went into liquidation in the past three years, (including cases of liquidation initiated by the shareholders and those ordered by the court), and the number of such companies of which the Official Receiver acted as their liquidator; and
according to the records of the Official Receiver's Office, of the longest period of time taken for a limited company to go through the entire liquidation process and the reasons for the time taken?

The Official Receiver has acted as the Liquidator of 399 limited companies in compulsory liquidations in 1993, 420 in 1994 and 471 in 1995. The Official Receiver is not involved in voluntary liquidations.
