Macau delegation visits Education Department
A fourteen-member of a committee on education of Macau today (Friday), during a visit to the Education Department, exchanged views and shared experiences with their Hong Kong's counterparts on school education. The delegation was led by Maria Edith da Silva, Directora dos Servicos de Educacao e Juventude.
On arrival, they were greeted by Senior Assistant Director of Education, Mr Tsui See-ming, and senior staff members.
The group was briefed by Assistant Director (Planning and Research), Mr Lee Hing-fai, on the education system in Hong Kong and Assistant Director (Schools), Mr Kwan Shu-tsun, on school administration.
Assistant Director (Curriculum Development Institute), Dr Leung Yat-ming, and Assistant Director (Chief Inspector of Schools), Mr Ho Che-leung, briefly introduced the school curriculum in Hong Kong.
The group also learnt from Education Officer, Mr Leung Cheuk, about the actions taken by the Education Department and schools in the event of tropical cyclones and heavy persistent rain.

Thank-you card drive to appreciate work of teachers
The following is issued on behalf on the Committee on Home-School Co- operation:
More than a million thank-you cards will be sent to teachers in appreciation of their work starting tomorrow (Saturday).
The sending of thank-you cards to teachers is part of the 'Parents also Appreciate Teachers' Drive 1996 organised by the Committee on Home-School Co- operation and Sing Tao Daily.
The distribution of thank-you cards will start at 10 am in a kick-off ribbon- cutting ceremony at Hong Kong Teachers' Centre.
