In their final remarks, the Chairman Mr Eduardo Ferrero Costa and the Country Rapporteur thanked the British and Hong Kong delegations for their comprehensive report, exhaustive replies and a frank and highly constructive dialogue.
Concluding observations of the Committee are expected to be published in about two weeks' time.

Governor visits Wong Tai Sin

The Governor, the Rt Hon Christopher Patten, toured Wong Tai Sin today (Wednesday) to get first-hand information on the latest developments in the district.
Accompanied by the Director of Home Affairs. Mrs Shelley Lau, and the Wong Tai Sin District Officer, Mr Richard Luk. Mr Patten first called on the Spastics Association of Hong Kong's Jockey Club Conductive Learning Centre in Wang Tau Hom Estate, where he was briefed on the operation and teaching objectives of the. centre which caters mainly to children with cerebral palsy.
The Governor then stopped at the Chi Lin Nunnery in Diamond Hill and was greeted by a group of about 10 elderly women. average 85 years old, performing Japanese dancing.
He also saw a model of the Chi Lin redevelopment plan as well as the process of making Buddhist statues.
This was followed by a tour in the Wong Tai Sin Shopping Centre before he met district board members and community leaders at a reception.
