Works under the contract include demolishing all existing sludge dewatering facilities in the four sewage treatment works and replacing them by membrance filter presses.

The contract also includes provision of all civil works including pipeworks, sludge coagulation tanks, sludge flocculation tanks and relining of concrete holding

tanks.

The works has already begun on January 15 and are scheduled to complete in

mid-1997.

Contract awarded for North Point government building

The Architectural Services Department today (Tuesday) signed a $968 million contract for the design and construction of a new government building in North Point.

The 25-storey office complex, covering a total floor area of 66,000 square metres, will be located at Java Road next to the North Point Police Station.

Construction is expected to start next month and scheduled for completion in February 1998.

On completion, it is expected to provide office accommodation for the Rating and Valuation Department, the Lands Department and the Civil Service Training Centre.

Fresh water cut in Fanling

Fresh water supply to some premises in Fanling will be temporarily suspended from 11 pm on Friday (February 2) to 6 am the following day to facilitate water main leakage detection.

All premises along Sha Tau Kok Road (Lung Yeuk Tau section), Luen On Street, Wo Tai Street and Luen Fat Street, including Luen Wo Market and Luen Wo San Tsuen, will be affected.
