Engineering works for Lamma Island approved

The Governor-in-Council has approved a series of engineering works to be carried out at Yung Shue Wan, Lamma Island.

The proposed works include the construction of about 410 metres of seawall, the reconstruction of an existing pier and the reclamation of about 1.1 hectares of foreshore and sea-bed at the southern portion of Yung Shue Wan.

The works are to provide land for essential facilities including a refuse transfer station, sewerage treatment works, loading/unloading areas, parking area for village vehicles, a site designated for industrial (rural workshop) purpose and a dangerous goods store.

The extent of the foreshore and sea-bed affected is contained in a notice published in the Government Gazette today (Friday).

Any person who considers that his interest, right or easement in or over the foreshore and sea-bed involved will be injuriously affected by the works should submit a written claim for compensation to the Director of Lands before January 26, 1997.

The person who submits the claim should state the sum of money he is willing to accept in full and final settlement of his claim. He should also submit particulars to substantiate his claim.
