The Labour Department is currently reviewing the Women and Young Persons (Industry) Regulations. Although there is no plan at this stage to introduce legislation to regulate the maximum working hours of all employees and the basis for calculating over-time payment, the subjects will be kept under review.
We intend to consult the Labour Advisory Board on the results of the review on the Women and Young Persons (Industry) Regulations in mid-1996. If legislative amendments are required, it is our intention to submit the proposed (Amendment) (Regulations) into the Executive Council in late 1996. The actual legislative timetable, however, will depend on the outcome of the consultation process.
