A review of all ordinances is being undertaken by a unit in the Legal Department to ascertain whether amendments to these ordinances could be introduced to provide for bilingualism in the preparation of the documents involved. The Government is fully aware of the need for consistency between Hong Kong Laws and the Basic Law, and the Chinese side is being consulted on proposed amendments to the laws where necessary.
