50 new building plans approved in March
The Buildings Department approved 50 building plans in March this year.
Of the plans, 29 are for Hong Kong Island, six for Kowloon and 15 for the New Territories.
The approved plans include 13 for apartment and apartment/commercial developments, eight for commercial development and four for factory and industrial developments.
In the same month, consent was given for work to start on 43 building projects, which involve 62,934.6 square metres of usable domestic floor area and 136,124.9 square metres of usable non-domestic floor area.
The declared cost of new buildings completed in the month totalled about $2,897 million.
Of the buildings certified for occupation in the month, usable floor areas for domestic and non-domestic uses are 142,651.1 square metres and 111,998.7 square metres respectively.

In the same month, the department issued 40 Occupation Permits nine for Hong Kong Island, 14 for Kowloon and 17 for the New Territories.
In addition, 10 demolition consents involving 36 buildings were issued.
The Buildings Department's Control and Enforcement Division received 680 complaints of unauthorised building works, carried out 2,172 inspections and issued 424 Removal Orders on unauthorised works.
The department's Dangerous Buildings Section also inspected 905 buildings and obtained nil Emergency Closure Order from the court.
