Reminder to ratepayers

A spokesman for the Rating and Valuation Department today reminded ratepayers that if they wish to make a proposal to alter the rateable value of their property for the financial year commencing April 1, 1995, they must serve a proposal on the Commissioner of Rating and Valuation on or before Wednesday (May 31).

He stressed that under the provisions of the Rating Ordinance, if à proposal is served after May 31, it cannot be accepted as valid. Proposals can be served by post or by hand, but transmission by facsimile is not acceptable.

The spokesman added that the proposal should be made on the specified form (Form R20A) which is obtainable from the department at Hennessy Centre, 17th floor, 500 Hennessy Road, Causeway Bay, Hong Kong, and also from district offices.

For further enquiries ratepayers can telephone the Department on 2805 7666.
