"We attach great importance to maintaining the accuracy of the electoral roll. However, under our existing system, the accuracy of the electoral roll depends, to a large extent, on the initiative of the electors themselves to report to us on any changes," the spokesman said.
He also reminds electors to make sure that they inform the REO of any changes of particulars before July 5.
He also drew the attention of those who were interested to join the September LegCo elections as candidates should make sure that they had been registered as electors. To qualify as a candidate, a person must be a registered elector of the geographical constituency. Registration forms should reach the REO before June I.

ED to help redundant teachers obtain employment
The Education Department's (ED) Placement Service Unit has swung into action on May 1 in helping redundant teachers in aided primary schools obtain new teaching posts.
An Education Department spokesman said the unit was set up to assist these teachers who would become redundant this September as a result of the reduction of classes in their schools.
The spokesman explained the reduction of classes in some schools was mainly due to people moving from urban areas to new towns and the decline of primary school age population in individual areas.
He invited redundant teachers who would require the department's placement service to register with the Placement Service Unit at Room 704, seventh floor, Kowloon Government Offices, 405 Nathan Road, Yau Ma Tei, during the following periods:
