WAN CHAT OUTLINE ZONING PLAN AMENDED
THE TOWN PLANNING BOARD TODAY (FRIDAY) ANNOUNCED AMENDMENTS THE WAN CHAI OUTLINE ZONING PLAN.
TO
THE AMENDMENTS WILL ENABLE THE EXPANSION OF THE HONG KONG CONVENTION AND EXHIBITION CENTRE (HKCEC). THE EXTENSION WAS APPROVED BY THE GOVERNMENT IN FEBRUARY 1994.

APPROPRIATE LAND USE ZONES, INCLUDING THOSE FOR 'OPEN SPACK' AND OTHER SPECIFIRD USES' AND ROADS, ARE DESIGNATED ON THE 'ISLAND RECLAMATION' FRONTING THE EXISTING HKCRC TO FACILITATE THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE HKCEC EXTENSION WHICH INCLUDES A PEDESTRIAN WALKWAY WITH ANCILLARY EXHIBITION FACILITIES,
WATERFRONT PROMENADE AND UNDERGROUND PUMPHOUSES, FERRY PIERS, HELICOPTER LANDING PAD AND ROADS.

THE WATER CHANNEL BETWEEN THE ISLAND RECLAMATION' AND WAN CHAI NORTH IS ZONED UNDETERMINED'.
WITHIN THIS ZONE, EXCEPT THOSE PERMITTED USES AS SPRCIFIED ON THE NOTES OF THE PLAN, ALL OTHER USES REQUIRE PLANNING PERMISSION FROM THE BOARD.
"THE EXISTING НКСЕС ZONED *UNSPECIFIED USE' ANNOTATED *EXHIBITION CENTRE' IS RE-ANNOTATED TO 'EXHIBITION CENTRE AND COMMERCIAL DEVELOPMENT' TO REFLECT THE USES OF THE EXISTING HKCEC, A SPOKESMAN FOR THE BOARD SAID.

"SOME SITES ABUTTING STEPPED STREETS IN SAU WA FONG ARE REZONED FROM *RESIDENTIAL (GROUP A)1 AND 'RESIDENTIAL (GROUP
B)' ΤΟ 'RESIDENTIAL (GROUP C)' WITH A DEVELOPMENT RESTRICTION OF MAXIMUM PLOT RATIO OF FIVE AND MAXIMUM BUILDING HEIGHT OF 12 STOREYS OR THE PLOT RATIO AND THE HEIGHT OF THE EXISTING BUILDING WHICHEVER ARE THE GREATER,' HE ADDED.
A SITE ADJACENT TO THE WAN CHAT POLYCLINIC AT KENNEDY ROAD IS REZONED FROM 'OPEN SPACE' TO *GOVERNMENT/INSTITUTION/COMMUNITY' ΤΟ FACILITATE THE DEVELOPMENT OF A MULTI-SERVICE COMPLEX BY THE HONG KONG HOUSING SOCIETY.
A LANDSCAPED PUBLIC OPEN SPACE WILL BE PROVIDED AT THE GROUND FLOOR OF THE COMPLEX TO REPLACE THE EXISTING OPEN SPACE ON A STEEP SLOPE.
