FMO SCHOOL GRADUATES URGED TO CONTRIBUTE TO SOCIETY

LEGISLATIVE COUNCILLOR MR MAN SAI-CHEONG HAS URGED GRADUATES OF THE FISH MARKETING ORGANISATION (FMO) SCHOOLS TO DEVOTE EFFORTS THE DEVELOPMENT OF HONG KONG.

MR MAN WAS SPEAKING AT THE FMO SCHOOLS JOINT GRADUATION CEREMONY HELD AT THE ACADEMIC COMMUNITY HALL THIS (THURSDAY) MORNING.

HE TOLD GRADUATES THAT THEY MUST TRY HARD TO EQUIP THEMSELVES AND BE ENTHUSIASTIC IN THEIR STUDIES AND WORK.

THIS WOULD ENABLE THEM TO PREPARE FOR THE FUTURE, NOT ONLY FOR THEMSELVES, BUT ALSO FOR THE COMMUNITY.

"THE BEST WAY TO REPAY YOUR PARENTS AND TEACHERS IS TO BE ABLE TO SUCCEED IN YOUR FUTURE CAREERS, TO MAKE CONTRIBUTIONS TO SOCIETY AND TO UPKEEP HONG KONG AS AN IDEAL TERRITORY FOR ALL ITS CITIZENS.

"YOU ARE MOST FORTUNATE IN THAT OTHER THAN BEING ABLE TO EXPERIENCE PERSONALLY THE TRANSITION OF HONG KONG, YOU WILL ALSO BE ABLE TO WITNESS THE PROSPERITY AND STABILITY IN THE TERRITORY AFTER 1997," HE TOLD THE GRADUATES.

ON FMO SCHOOLS, MR MAN SAID SINCE THEIR ESTABLISHMENT IN MID-1940'S, THEY HAD BEEN PROVIDING

EDUCATION TO CHILDREN OF FISHERMEN AND OTHER MEMBERS OF THE COMMUNITY.

HE WAS ALSO PLEASED TO NOTE THAT THE FMO SCHOOL MANAGEMENT HAD APPLIED FOR THE REPROVISIONING OF A STANDARD SECONDARY SCHOOL.

DIRECTOR OF AGRICULTURE AND FISHERIES, DR LAWRENCE LEE, TOOK THE OPPORTUNITY TO THANK MR MAN FOR HIS CONTRIBUTIONS TOWARDS THE

COMMUNITY.

"A SERVING MEMBER OF THE COUNTRY PARKS BOARD AND ENDANGERED SPECIES ADVISORY COMMITTEE, MR MAN HAS DEVOTED CONSIDERABLE TIME AND EFFORTS TOWARDS NATURE CONSERVATION AS WELL AS THE DEVELOPMENT AND MANAGEMENT OF COUNTRY PARKS, DR LEE SAID.
