SHOULD IT BE UNABLE TO ACQUIRE ALL THE PROPERTIES AFFECTED, LANDS THE LDC MAY REQUEST THE SECRETARY FOR PLANNING, ENVIRONMENT AND TO RECOMMEND TO THE EXECUTIVE COUNCIL THE RESUMPTION OF LAND UNDER THE CROWN LANDS RESUMPTION ORDINANCE.
UNDER THE LDC ORDINANCE, THE SECRETARY MAY ONLY RECOMMEND REASONABLE RESUMPTION WHEN HE IS SATISFIED THAT THE LDC HAS TAKEN ALL STEPS TO ACQUIRE THE LAND ON FAIR AND REASONABLE UNABLE TO DO SO.

TSUEN WAN REDEVELOPMENT PROJECT APPROVED
THE TOWN PLANNING BOARD TODAY (FRIDAY) APPROVED AN APPLICATION BY THE HONG KONG HOUSING SOCIETY FOR REDEVELOPING AN OLD AREA IN TSUEN WAN IN A COMPREHENSIVE MANNER.
THE AREA, BOUNDED BY SHA TSUI ROAD, TAI HO ROAD, YEUNG UK ROAD AND WO TIK STREET, IS ABOUT TWO HECTARES.
WHEN REDEVELOPED, IT WILL HAVE MORE THAN OVER 1,000 RESIDENTIAL FLATS WITH RETAILING FACILITIES, A PUBLIC OPEN SPACE OF ABOUT 3,700 SQUARE METRES AND COMMUNITY FACILITIES, SUCH HOSTEL AND PUBLIC LIGHT BUS AND TAXI TERMINUS.
AS NURSERY,
THE WHOLE PROJECT IS EXPECTED TO BE COMPLETED IN MID-1999.
A GROUP OF PERSONS AFFECTED BY THE PROPOSED REDEVELOPMENT SUBMITTED A PETITION LETTER TO THE BOARD TODAY.
THEIR CONCERNS OVER THE COMPENSATION AND ARRANGEMENTS WERE NOTED BY THE BOARD.
REHOUSING
HOWEVER, THE BOARD CONSIDERED THAT COMPENSATION WAS A MATTER BETWEEN THE DEVELOPMENT AGENCY AND THOSE PERSONS AFFECTED WHEREAS THE BOARD WAS CONFINED TO CONSIDER THE MERITS OF THE PROPOSAL.
A SPOKESMAN FOR THE TOWN PLANNING BOARD SAID THE AREA HAD DESIGNATED AS COMPREHENSIVE DEVELOPMENT AREA (CDA) IN THE DRAFT WAN OUTLINE ZONING PLAN BECAUSE IT WAS STRATEGICALLY LOCATED NEAR TSUEN WAN TOWN HALL AND TSUEN WAN TRANSPORT COMPLEX.
