THUS A COMPREHENSIVE URBAN RENEWAL OF THE AREA BY THE LDC IS REQUIRED SO AS TO IMPROVE THE ENVIRONMENT AND ACHIEVE MORE EFFICIENT USE OF LAND.

UNDER THE SCHEME, HONG LOK STREET AND PART OF NELSON WILL BE CLOSRD TO VEHICULAR TRAFFIC AND INCORPORATED WITHIN THE DEVELOPMENT SITE.
THE WELL-KNOWN PET-BIRD STALLS, A COOKED FOOD CENTRE AND COMMUNITY FACILITIES, WHICH WERE PREVIOUSLY PLANNED TO BE RELOCATED IN ANOTHER LDC DEVELOPMENT SCHEME FOR SHAMCHUN STREET IN THE SAME DISTRICT, WILL NOW BE PROVIDED IN THIS DEVELOPMENT SCHEME.
THIS FOLLOWS THE TOWN PLANNING BOARD'S DECISION то AMEND THE SHAMCHUN STREET DEVELOPMENT SCHEME PLAN TO MEET OBJECTIONS. THE SHAMCHUN STREET SCHEME WILL NOT BE PURSUED FURTHER AND THIS HAS ALSO BEEN ENDORSED BY THE EXECUTIVE COUNCIL.
THE "ARGYLE STREET/SHANGHAI STREET DEVELOPMENT SCHEME PLAN" WAS EXHIBITED BY THE TOWN PLANNING BOARD FOR PUBLIC INSPECTION IN MARCH 1991 AFTER THE MONG KOK DISTRICT BOARD WAS CONSULTED IN NOVEMBER, 1990.
THE DISTRICT BOARD HAS NO OBJECTION то THE REDEVELOPMENT AS THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE SCHEME PLAN THE GENERAL ENVIRONMENT AND THE PROVISION OF COMMUNITY THE AREA,
