TURNING TO AMBULANCE CALLS, MR LAM SAID A STANDARD TRAVELLING TIME OF 10 MINUTES HAD BEEN SET FOR AN AMBULANCE TO ARRIVE AT SCENES AFTER A CALL FOR HELP WAS RECEIVED BY THE DEPARTMENT'S COMMUNICATION CENTRE.
LAST YEAR, AMBULANCES MANAGED ΤΟ MEET 91.1 PER CENT OF EMERGENCY CALLS BY ARRIVING AT SCENES WITHIN 10 MINUTES, AND THE DEPARTMENT AIMS TO ACHIEVE A TARGET OF 91.5 PER CENT FOR 1992/93.
THE PUBLIC ARE WELCOME TO PROVIDE INFORMATION ON SUSPECTED FIRE HAZARDS OR COMPLAINTS ABOUT ILLEGAL MANUFACTURE, STORAGE OR CONVEYANCE OF DANGEROUS GOODS.
THEY CAN EITHER TELEPHONE THE DEPARTMENT'S HOTLINE ON 723 8787 OR WRITE TO A FIRE PROTECTION REGIONAL OFFICE.

HE ALSO ASSURED THE PUBLIC THAT THEY HAD A RIGHT TO A FULL AND PROMPT EXPLANATION ON OCCASIONS THAT THE SERVICE WAS UNABLE TO RESPOND WITHIN ITS TARGETS.
