INCREASE IN OFFICE AREA LIMIT UNLIKELY

INCREASED DEMAND FOR OFFICE ACCOMMODATION IS BEING MET REZONINGS AND APPROPRIATE DEVELOPMENT APPLICATIONS UNDER THE TOWN PLANNING ORDINANCE.

THE SECRETARY FOR PLANNING, ENVIRONMENT AND LANDS, THE HON GRAHAM BARNES, SAID THIS IN THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL TODAY (WEDNESDAY).

REPLYING TO A QUESTION FROM THE HON JAMES MCGREGOR, MR BARNES SAID OFFICE USE IN INDUSTRIAL BUILDINGS HAD BEEN UNDER CONSTANT REVIEW BY THE TOWN PLANNING BOARD OVER THE LAST YEAR.

THE PROPORTION OF ANY INDUSTRIAL OR GODOWN UNIT WHICH COULD BR USED FOR ANCILLARY OFFICES WITHOUT APPLICATION TO THE TOWN PLANNING BOARD HAD RECENTLY BEEN RAISED FROM 20 PER CENT TO 30 PER CENT.

BUT IT MUST BE FIRMLY TIKD TO THE SUPPORTING, THE SECRETARY ADDED.
