RETAIL SALES OF OTHER CONSUMER GOODS ROSE BY 22 PER CENT IN VALUE AND 14 PER CENT IN VOLUME.
ANALYSED BY SELECTED TRADES, RETAIL SALES OF MOTOR VEHICLES AND PARTS INCREASED BY 80 PER CENT IN VALUE AND 66 PER CENT IN VOLUME.
DEPARTMENT STORES ROSE BY 30 PER CENT IN SALES VALUE AND 18 PER CENT IN SALES VOLUME. SUPERMARKETS SALES WENT UP BY 8 PER CENT IN VALUE BUT FELL BY 3 PER CENT IN VOLUME. CONSUMER DURABLES OTHER THAN MOTOR VEHICLES AND PARTS INCREASED BY 5 PER CENT IN SALES DROPPED BY 1 PER CENT IN SALES VOLUME.
