CSD ORGANISES FESTIVE ACTIVITIES FOR VIETNAMESE BOAT PEOPLE
OF
THE CORRECTIONAL SERVICES DEPARTMENT HAS ORGANISED A SERIES ENTERTAINMENT PROGRAMMES FOR VIETNAMESE PEOPLE IN BOTH DETENTION CENTRES AND REFUGEE CENTRES IN THE FIRST WEEK OF THE NEW YEAR.
THESE INCLUDE VARIETY SHOWS, OUTINGS, VIDEO SHOWS AND VARIOUS KINDS OF BALL GAME COMPETITIONS AND MANY OTHERS.
A DEPARTMENT SPOKESMAN SAID: "IT IS OUR HOPE THAT THE RESIDENTS AND THEIR CHILDREN CAN HAVE A HAPPY TIME DURING THE NEW YEAR AND ENJOY THE FESTIVAL THE SAME AS OTHERS IN HONG KONG."

CHRISTMAS CELEBRATIONS, WHICH INCLUDED PARTIES, VARIETY SHOWS, CONCERTS, BARBECUES AND FESTIVAL DECORATION COMPETITIONS WERE HELD
IN THE DETENTION CENTRES AND REFUGEE CENTRES IN THE PAST TWO WEEKS.
GAMES STALLS, VIDEO SHOWS AND PLAY GROUPS SPECIALLY FOR CHILDREN WERE ALSO HELD.

CSD STAFF ALSO HELPED VISITING ORGANISATIONS TO THE REFUGEES AND BOAT PEOPLE. RELIGIOUS SERVICES WERE ARRANGED CHRISTIANS OF THE CENTRES DURING CHRISTMAS.

ONE BIG FAMILY' CARNIVAL WILL BE HELD AT THE NEW TERRITORIES HEUNG YEE KUK SOUTHERN DISTRICT SECONDARY SCHOOL, MUI WO THIS SUNDAY (JANUARY 1) MORNING.
ADMISSION TO THE CARNIVAL, WHICH STARTS AT 10.30 AM, IS FREE.
THERE WILL BE A PERFORMANCE BY THE AUXILIARY
POP MUSIC BAND, GAME STALLS, AND SPORTS GAMES.

THE ACTIVITY IS ORGANISED BY THE LANTAU AREA COMMITTEE OF THE ISLANDS DISTRICT OFFICE AS A COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT PROJECT WHICH AIMS AT IMPROVING THE SENSE OF BELONGING AMONG THE ISLANDERS.
IT IS FUNDED WITH ALLOCATION TO THE AREA COMMITTEE BY THE DISTRICT OFFICE AND CONTRIBUTIONS FROM PRIVATE SPONSORS.
THE ASSISTANT DISTRICT OFFICER, MR SO KAM-SHING, THE CHAIRMEN OF THE MUI WO, SOUTH LANTAU, TAI O AND TUNG CHUNG RURAL COMMITTEES, AND THREE ISLANDS DISTRICT BOARD MEMBERS WILL OFFICIATE AT THE OPENING CEREMONY,
