FIRST ON THE AGENDA WAS A PAPER WHICH SOUGHT про EXPAND THE SCOPE OF THE PROPOSED EMPLOYEES COMPENSATION ASSISTANCE SCHEME ΤΟ ENABLE AN EMPLOYER TO OBTAIN REIMBURSEMENT OF COMPENSATION PAYMENTS FROM THE SCHEME IN THE EVENT THAT HIS INSURER BECAME INSOLVENT,

THE BOARD WAS BRIEFED OF THE DETAILS BY THE AUTHORITY FROM THE REGISTRAR GENERAL'S OFFICE, MR D.W.K. SULLIVAN.
MEMBERS' VIEWS ON THE PROPOSED EXTENSION WERE DIVERSE AND IN THE LIGHT OF THE BOARD'S COMMENTS, FURTHER CONSIDERATION WOULD BE GIVEN TO THE ISSUE.
THE BOARD THEN CONSIDERED A NUMBER OF PROPOSALS TO IMPROVE THE LONG SERVICE PAYMENT SCHEME UNDER THE EMPLOYMENT ORDINANCE.
THE PROPOSALS INCLUDE:
THE
(A) TO REDUCE THE QUALIFYING LENGTH OF SERVICE FOR EMPLOYEES
UNDER 45 PROGRESSIVELY BY ONE YEAR ANNUALLY UNTIL STANDARD OF FIVE YEARS FOR ALL EMPLOYEES 15S REACHED;
FOR (B) TO INCREASE THE RATES OF PAYMENT
EMPLOYEES UNDER 40 PROGRESSIVELY BY 25 PER CENT OF THE RATES FOR EMPLOYEES AGED 40 AND OVER UNTIL THE 100 PER CENT RATE IS REACHED TWO YEARS' TIME; AND

(C) TO RETROGRESS THE RECKONABLE YEARS OF PAST SERVICE
RATE OF ONE YEAR FOR EVERY YEAR OF SERVICE UNTIL 1974.
