THE HEES HELPS EMPLOYERS IN RECRUITING PROFESSIONAL STAFF AND JOB-SEEKERS WITH UNIVERSITY OR POST-SECONDARY QUALIFICATIONS IN FINDING EMPLOYMENT.
IN PARTICULAR, THE SERVICE IS INTENDED ΤΟ HELP |IONG KONG STUDENTS WHO HAVE COMPLETED THEIR EDUCATION OVERSEAS.
"THEY FIND OUR SERVICE USEFUL IN LEARNING ABOUT HONG KONG'S JOB MARKET AND MANY OF THEM ARE SUBSEQUENTLY PLACED IN JOBS CLOSELY RELATED TO THEIR PROFESSIONAL TRAINING," THE LABOUR OFFICER IN CHARGE OF THE HEES, MR EDDIE TANG, SAID.
MR TANG NOTED THAT THE SERVICE WAS ALSO USED BY GRADUATES OF LOCAL UNIVERSITIES AND POST-SECONDARY INSTITUTES WHO WERE IN EMPLOYMENT BUT WISHED TO SEEK ALTERNATIVE JOBS.
BETWEEN JANUARY AND JUNE THIS YEAR, 946 PERSONS HAD REGISTERED WITH THE HEES.

A BREAKDOWN OF THE TOTAL SHOWS THAT 329 RETURNED 183 FROM THE UNITED KINGDOM, 175 FROM LOCAL INSTITUTES AND 92 FROM THE UNITED STATES. THE REST WERE FROM AUSTRALIA, CHINA AND TAIWAN,

OF Fill M. 255 POSSESSED QUALIFICATIONS ADMINISTRATIO ACCOUNTING AND FINANCE; 158 STUDIED COMPUTER AND STATISTICS; 137 SOCIAL SCIENCE; AND 45 SCIENCE.

DURING THE SAME PERIOD, 152 PERSONS REGISTERED WITH THE HEES WERE PLACED IN EMPLOYMENT. THEY INCLUDED 26 ENGINEERS,
16 ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANTS,

COMPUTER PROGRAMMERS,
14 MARKETING/SALES EXECUTIVES, AND FIVE EXECUTIVE SECRETARIES.
THEIR AVERAGE MONTHLY WAGES WAS $4,500 THOUGH SOME WERE OFFERED BETWEEN $7,000 AND $10,000.
MR TANG NOTED THAT WHEN A JOB-SEEKER REGISTERS WIT|| THE HEES, HIS PERSONAL PARTICULARS SUCH AS EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND), INTERESTS AND APTITUDE, WILL BE FED INTO THE COMPUTER.
