ESTABLISHMENTS, THE SURVEY ALSO ENUMERATED FIRMS ENGAGED IN THE FOLLOWING ACTIVITIES: REAL ESTATE DEVELOPMENT, LEASING, BROKERAGE AND MAINTENANCE MANAGEMENT; AND ARCHITECTURAL, SURVEYING AND PROJECT ENGINEERING,

ACCORDING TO THE SURVEY RESULTS, 3,699

ESTABLISHMENTS ENGAGED

REAL ESTATE DEVELOPMENT, LEASING, BROKERAGE AND MAINTENANCE SERVICES HAD OPERATED DURING 1986.

THEIR GROSS OUTPUT IN 1986 WAS $19,602 MILLION WHICH INCLUDED $10,596 MILLION FROM SERVICE AND RENTAL INCOME, $8,727 MILLION FROM GROSS MARGIN OF REAL ESTATE DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS [EXCLUDING PRICE APPRECIATION) AND $279 MILLION FROM OTHER INCOME.

THEIR TOTAL EXPENDITURES WERE $7,714 MILLION.

AT $16,819 MILLION, THE TOTAL VALUE ADDED WAS 19 PER CENT THAN THAT IN 1985. THESE FIGURES DID NOT INCLUDE ESTABLISHMENTS DEVELOPED REAL ESTATE PROJECTS FOR THEIR OWN OCCUPATION OR THOSE OWNED LAND WITHOUT DEVELOPING IT DURING THE REFERENCE YEAR. ALSO EXCLUDED WEKE REAL ESTATE LEASING AND OTHER ACTIVITIES UNDERTAKEN BY SELF-EMPLOYED PERSONS OR HOUSEHOLDS.

REGARDING ARCHITECTURAL, SURVEYING AND PROJECT ENGINEERING SERVICES, THE SURVEY RESULTS INDICATED THAT 613 SUCH ESTABLISHMENTS HAD OPERATED IN 1986.

THEIR TOTAL BUSINESS RECEIPTS WERE $2,318 MILLION, AND TOTAL EXPENDITURES WERE $1,859 MILLION OF WHICH $1,101 MILLION WAS ON COMPENSATION OF EMPLOYEES. THE TOTAL VALUE ADDED WAS $1,558 MILLION, REPRESENTING AN INCREASE OF 7 PER CENT OVER 1985.

THE SURVEY ALSO COLLECTED DATA ABOUT BUILDING AND CONSTRUCTION SITES AND REAL ESTATE DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS.

ACCORDING TO THE SURVEY RESULTS, A TOTAL OF 1,

1,842 SITE CONTRACTS WERE CARRIED OUT IN 1986 WITH THE GROSS VALUE OF CONSTRUCTION WORK PERFORMED AMOUNTING TO $21,158 MILLION, WHICH WAS 8 PER CENT HIGHER THAN THE CORRESPONDING VALUE IN 1985. THIS INCLUDED $6,979 MILLION ON PUBLIC SITES AND $14,179 MILLION ON PRIVATE SITES.

THE SHARE OF THE PUBLIC SECTOR IN THE GROSS VALUE OF CONSTRUCTION WORK PERFORMED AT SITES WAS 33 PER CENT IN 1986, COMPARED WITH 36 PER CENT IN 1985.

THE GROSS VALUE OF CONSTRUCTION WORK PERFORMED RESIDENTIAL BUILDINGS, AT $10,648 MILLION IN 1986, WAS ABOVE THAT IN 1985.
