CO-OPERATION ÎN BUILDING MANAGEMENT STRESSED

THE EASTERN DISTRICT OFFICER, MR GARY YEUNG, TODAY (SATURDAY) URGED PROPERTY OWNERS AND TENANTS IN THE DISTRICT TO CO-OPERATE FULLY IN MANAGING THEIR PREMISES.

SPRÅKING AT THE OPENING OF A "BUILDING MANAGEMENT SEMINAR AND EXHIBITION", MR YEUNG SAID BFFECTIVE BUILDING MANAGEMENT NOT ONLY REDUCED THE COST OF MAINTENANCE AND PROLONGED THE LIFR SPAN OF THE BUILDING, BUT ALSO HELPED IN CREATING A BETTER LIVING ENVIRONMENT.

"OWING TO NEGLIOBNOR IN BUILDING MANAGEMENT IN THE PASTI SOME UNSATISFACTORY SITUATIONS INVOLVING SUCH THINGS AS OBSTRUCTION OF THE FIRE ESCAPE, DEFECTS IN FIRE FIGHTING EQUIPMENT, ILLEGAL STRUCTURES AND UNHYGIENIC ENVIRONMENT OCCURRED,

MR YEUNG SAID THAT EFFECTIVE BUILDING MANAGEMENT REQUIRED CO-OPERATION BETWEEN OWNERS AND TENANTS, AND THIS WAS MOSTLY DONB THROUGH OWNERS' INCORPORATIONS, AND SOMETIMKS THROUGH MUTUAL AID COMMITTEES, WHERE INCORPORATIONS HAD NOT YET ESTABLISHED.
