(33) The PC should consider the possibility of three basic schools for the OLI, viz. commercial and social sciences, arts and humanities and mathematics, science and technology.

(34) The OLI's programme should start on the basis of using the best material available from the existing operators, whether in Hong Kong or overseas.

(35) The PC should consider at an early stage the possibility of translation of courses into Chinese or the development of specific dew courses in Chinese,

(36) The PC should investigate appropriate sources of course material for sub-degree work, including the UK Open Tech, the UK Open College, the Open College of British Columbia and the Canadian College of the Air.

(37) For courses purchased from overseas, .the OLI should prefer less parochial material which does not require significant alteration for the local market.

(40) OLI courses should be structured оп a credit unit system, consistent with the certification by attainment approach. The system should provide for accumulation of credit units as well as credit transfer.

(41) The PC should consider the suitability of the Course structure for the OLI recommended in paragraph VIII.5.56 of ECR 2.

(42) The OLI should aim to develop courses at sub-degree, as

well as first and second degree level.
