CLOSING OF WAN CHAI CHINESE CULTUPAL FESTIVAL

WAN CHAI RESIDENTS APPRECIATED THE FINE WORKS OF MORE THAN 20 PAINTERS AND CALLIGRAPHISTS WHO DEMONSTRATED THEIR SKILLS AT THE CLOSING CEREMONY OF THE DISTRICT'S CHINESE CULTURAL FESTIVAL AT THE MORRISON HILL TECHNICAL INSTITUTE TODAY (SUNDAY).
THOSE ATTENDING ALSO SAW THE WINNERS OF THE OPEN CHINESE CHESS COMPETITION PLAY A FRIENDLY MATCH WITH EACH OTHER AND ENJOYED MUSIC PERFORMED BY A CHINESE ORCHESTRA.

SPEAKING AT THE CLOSING CEREMONY, WAN CHOL DISTRICT OFFICER, MR ROGER GARCIA SAID THE FESTIVAL HAD BEEN VERY SUCCESSFUL IN PROMOTING CHINESE CULTURE IN THE DISTRICT AND HOPED THAT SIMILAR ACTIVITIES WOULD BE ORGANISED FOR RESIDENTS IN THE FUTURE.
THE CHAIRMAN OF THE CULTURE AND PECREATION COMMITTEE OF THE WAN CHAI DISTRICT BOARD, MR LEE KON, SAID THAT THE FESTIVAL HAD PROVIDED RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES FOR RESIDENTS AND HELPED CREATE A SENSE OF BELONGING TO THE DISTRICT.
OTHER OFFICIATING GUESTS AT TODAY'S CEREMONY INCLUDED THE DISTRICT BOARD CHAIRMAN, MRS PEGGY LAM, AND THE ASSISTANT DISTRICT OFFICER, MISS CARMAN CHIU,
THE WEEK-LONG CHINESE CULTURAL FESTIVAL WAS ORGANISED BY THE CULTURE AND RECREATION COMMITTEE OF THE WAN CHAI DISTRICT BOARD WITH THE ASSISTANCE OF THE DISTRICT OFFICE, THE MUSIC OFFICE AND THE AMATEUR CHINESE CHESS ASSOCIATION.

YOUNG MEN AND WOMEN WITH INDUSTRIAL EXPERIENCE ARE INVITED TO ENROL IN A FULL-TIME ONE-YEAR TECHNICAL TEACHERS' COURSE AT THE HONG KONG TECHNICAL TEACHERS' COLLEGE STARTING IN SEPTEMBER.
THE COURSE IS INTENDED FOR MATURE STUDENTS WHO ARE INTERESTED IN TAKING UP TEACHING AS A PROFESSION AND WHO HAVE ACQUIRED SOME YEARS OF INDUSTRIAL EXPERIENCE IN ELECTRICAL AND ELECTRONIC ENGINEERING OR TECHANICAL ENGINEERING.
APPLICANTS MUST POSSESS A HIGHER DIPLOMA, HIGHER CERTIFICATE OR DIPLOMA IN ELECTRICAL AND ELECTRONIC ENGINEERING OR MECHANICAL ENGINEERING, AWARDED BY POLYTECHNICS OR TECHNICAL INSTITUTES, OR EQUIVALENT QUALIFICATION.
