62 BUILDING PROJECTS APPROVED IN JULY

THE BUILDINGS ORDINANCE OFFICE (3.0.0.) APPROVED 62 PROJECTS IN JULY, -

OF WHICH MORE THAN HALF 32 - WERE APARTMENT OR APARTMENT- COMMERCIAL DEVELOPMENTS ON HONG KONG ISLAND.

THIS IS THE HIGHEST NUMBER OF APPROVALS SO FAR THIS YEAR AND BRINGS THE TOTAL TO 347 FOR THE JANUARY - JULY PERIOD.

THIRTEEN OF THE APARTMENT-COMMERCIAL BLOCKS ON HONG KONG ISLAND ARE TO BE BUILT ON SAI WAN HO RECLAMATION IN EASTERN DISTRICT FOR BRAEMAR WEST LIMITED. THEY RANGE FROM.18 TO 21 STOREYS.

TWO APARTMENT BLOCKS ONE 27 STOREYS, THE OTHER 28 OVER FOUR LEVELS OF CAR PARK ARE TO BE BUILT AT BABINGTON PATH, AND A 36-STOREY BLOCK IS TO BE BUILT AT BONHAM ROAD,

THE TALLEST BLOCK, OF 40 STOREYS OVER A NINE-LEVEL PODIUM, IS TO BE BUILT FOR HANG LÚNG (R.E.A.) LIMITED OVER TIN HAU MASS TRANSIT RAILWAY STATION. A 30-STOREY BLOCK IS ALSO TO BE BUILT OVER THE STATION BY THE SAME DEVELOPER.

AN APARTMENT BLOCK OF 22 STOREYS OVER A FIVE-LEVEL CAR PARK IS TO BE BUILT AT BORRETT ROAD-BOWEN ROAD, AND A SIMILAR DEVELOPMENT OF 25 STOREYS IS TO GO UP AT 6, TAI HANG ROAD.

SIX TWO-STOREY RESIDENTIAL BLOCKS WILL BE BUILT IN PEEL RISE.

IN KOWLOON, FIVE APARTMENT AND APARTMENT-COMMERCIAL BLOCKS HAVE BEEN APPROVED, WHILE IN THE NEW TERRITORIES FIVE APARTMENT- COMMERCIAL DEVELOPMENTS COMPRISING 17 BLOCKS HAVE BEEN GIVEN THE GREEN LIGHT.

THE B.0.0. ISSUED 44 OCCUPATION PERMITS IN JULY, 19 OF WHICH WERE FOR HONG KONG ISLAND, FOUR FOR KOWLOON AND 21 FOR THE NEW TERRITORIES.

IT GAVE CONSENT FOR WORK TO BEGIN ON 57 NEW BUILDING PROJECTS, 31 OF WHICH WERE IN THE NEW TERRITORIES AND 18 ON HONG KONG ISLAND.

DURING THE MONTH 21 DEMOLITION ORDERS FOR 35 BUILDINGS WERE

ISSUED.

THE COST OF NEW BUILDINGS COMPLETED IN JULY CAME TO APPROXIMATELY $1 038 MILLION.

IN ITS CONTINUING CRACKDOWN ON ILLEGAL STRUCTURES AND ILLEGAL BUILDING WORKS, THE CONTROL AND ENFORCEMENT DIVISION RECEIVED 543 COMPLAINTS AND CARRIED OUT 948 INSPECTIONS.
