ACTIVITIES, WHICH INCLUDE OUTDOOR EVENTS, SEMINARS, FORUMS, COMPETITIONS, RECREATIONAL AND TRAINING CAMPS, CARNIVALS, VARIETY SHOWS, PERFORMANCE, FILM SHOWS AND EXHIBITIONS, WILL CATER FOR THE NEEDS OF CHILDREN, STUDENTS AND YOUNG WORKERS UP TO THE AGE OF 25.
+WE HOPE THESE ACTIVITIES WILL HELP THEM DEVELOP THE 18 POTENTIAL, BETTER UNDERSTAND HUMAN RELATIONSHIPS AND ENHANCE THEIR SENSE OF RESPONSIBILITY TO THE COMMUNITY, THE CHAIRMAN OF THE CO-ORDINATING COMMITTEE, MR PAUL YOUNG SAID.
OFFICIATING AT THE OPENING CEREMONY WILL BE THE CHAIRMAN AND VICE-CHAIRMAN OF THE SOUTHERN DISTRICT SUMMER YOUTH PROGRAMME CO-ORDINATING COMMITTEE, MR PAUL YOUNG AND MR YUNG CHEK-CHOW- SOUTHERN DISTRICT BOARD CHAIRMAN, MR JASPER LAM- ASSISTANT DISTRICT OFFICER, MRS ANGELA TSANG- DISTRICT EDUCATION OFFICER, MR LO KWAN-HUNG- YOUTH AND COMMUNITY OFFICER, MRS TANG CHU TSUI-HAR- RECREATION AND SPORT OFFICER, MR HO MING-CHEONG- CULTURAL AND ENTERTAINMENT MANAGER (HONG KONG), MR DANIEL CHUNG AND THE POLICE COMMUNITY RELATIONS OFFICER (WESTERN), MR MAK KWOK-KUEN.
WINNERS OF THE SOUTHERN DISTRICT BOARD'S SOCIAL SERVICES AWARD SCHEME WILL ALSO BE PRESENTED WITH PRIZES. THE WINNERS, WHOSE AGES RANGE FROM 10 TO 82 YEARS OLD, WERE CHOSEN FOR THEIR ENTHUSIASM AND ACHIEVEMENT IN RENDERING VOLUNTARY COMMUNITY SERVICES TO THE NEEDY IN THE DISTRICT.

THE OPENING OF THE TAI PO DISTRICT'S SUMMER YOUTH PROGRAMME WILL BE MARKED BY THE ASCENT OF A HOT-AIR BALLOON FROM THE TAI PO PLAYGROUND TOMORROW (SATURDAY) EVENING.
THE HOT-AIR BALLOON, CARRYING THIS YEAR'S THEME, +CARE FOR THE COMMUNITY, GET TO KNOW IT BETTER+ ON A BANNER, WILL RISE TO A HEIGHT OF 40 FEET FROM THE GROUND,
THE OPENING CEREMONY WILL BE FOLLOWED BY A VARIETY SHOW FEATURING. A NUMBER OF PERFORMANCES BY THE TAI PO DISTRICT ARTS ADVANCEMENT ASSOCIATION'S CHILDREN CHOIR, THE JUNIOR POLICE CALL AND OTHER LOCAL ORGANISATIONS.
