AVIOUNCING THIS TODAY (THURSDAY), A SPOKESMAN FOR THE AUTHORITY SAID THAT THE CRITERIA FOR FURTHER REDEVELOPMENT WOULD NO LONGER BE BASED ON THE MARK OR DESIGN OF A BUILDING, AS WITH THE MARK I AND 11 REDEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME, BUT WOULD BE RELATED TO THE STRUCTURAL CONDITION OF BLOCKS AND OTHER FACTORS SUCH AS LACK JF FACILITIES, ESTATE ENVIRONMENT AND REHOUSING RESOURCES.
THE CONDITION OF THESE BLOCKS IS SUCH THAT THEY WILL REQUIRE AN EXCESSIVE AMOUNT OF REPAIRS TO RETAIN THEM FOR OCCUPATION. ALTHOUGH THEY ARE NOT UNSAFE IT HAS BEEN DECIDED ON THE GROUNDS OF COST EFFECTIVENESS TO REDEVELOP RATHER THAN TO REPAIR THEM.
+THIS CONCLUSION IS DRAWN FROM THE EXPERIENCE GAINED IN DEALING WITH BLOCK 6 OF KWAI FONG ESTATE,+ THE SPOKESMAN SAID.
REDEVELOPMENT WOULD ALSO MEAN THAT IMPROVEMENTS COULD BE MADE TO THE ESTATES' AMENITIES AND THE TENANTS' LIVING ENVIRONMENT.
THE HOUSING AUTHORITY HAD ALREADY ANNOUNCED THE REDEVELOPMENT
THE EXTENDED REDEVELOPMENT OF BLOCKS 9, 10 AND 11 OF KWAI FONG. PROGRAMME COMPRISES:
