FIRE PREVENTION CAMPAIGN TO START

THIS YEAR'S FIRE PREVENTION PUBLICITY CAMPAIGN WILL BE LAUNCHED ON SUNDAY (NOVEMBER 3) TO REMIND THE PUBLIC OF THE HIGH FIRE RISK IN THE PREVAILING DRY WEATHER.

FIREMEN WILL PERFORM A SERIES OF FIRE FIGHTING AND SPECTACULAR SELF-RESCUE DEMONSTRATIONS FOLLOWING AN OPENING CEREMONY AT MORSE PARK'S FOOTBALL PITCHES STARTING AT 2 PM. THE PUBLIC IS WELCOME TO ATTEND.

OTHER ATTRACTIONS WILL INCLUDE A PERFORMANCE OF THE CAPE COLLINSON MARCHING BAND, A VARIETY SHOW WITH SINGING, A MAGICIAN AND AN ACROBATIC DISPLAY, TOGETHER WITH A DANCE DISPLAY BY THE MODERN DANCE TROUPE +SWING+.

A SPOKESMAN FOR THE FIRE PREVENTION CAMPAIGN PUBLICITY WORKING GROUP SAID IT WAS HOPED THAT THE CAMPAIGN COULD HELP PUT ACROSS THE FIRE PREVENTION MESSAGE AMONG RESIDENTS.

+SPECIAL EMPHASIS IS PLACED ON CARELESSNESS AS STATISTICS SHOW THAT THIS IS ALWAYS THE MAJOR CAUSE OF FIRE, HE SAID.

A MEDIA PUBLICITY PACKAGE HIGHLIGHTING THIS ASPECT HAS BEEN PRODUCED AND PUBLICITY MATERIALS WILL BE RELEASED IN THE NEXT FEW MONTHS TO REMIND THE PUBLIC OF THE NEED TO BE CAREFUL WITH FIRE.

THE PUBLICITY ITEMS INCLUDE A 30-SECOND TELEVISION PUBLICITY FILM SHOWING HOW A HOUSEHOLD FIRE CAN BE STARTED AS A RESULT OF CARELESSNESS.

A POSTER, CALENDAR CARDS, BOOKMARKS AND AN MTR-POSTER CARRYING THE CAMPAIGN MESSAGE THAT CARELESSNESS CAUSES FIRE HAVE ALSO BEEN PRODUCED.
