HEALTH HINTS FOR SUMMER

GOVERNMENT HYGIENE ADVISER, DR R.A. PERRY TODAY (SATURDAY) REMINDED MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC TO TAKE PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES AGAINST FOOD POISONING AND GASTRO-INTESTINAL DISEASES WITH THE ONSET OF WARMER WEATHER.
+FOOD BORNE DISEASES ARE NORMALLY ASSOCIATED WITH UNCLEAN AND UNWHOLESOME FOOD AND WATER, AND THE PUBLIC SHOULD, THEREFORE, OBSERVE PROPER PRACTICES TO ENSURE THAT THE FOOD THEY TAKE IS FREE FROM CONTAMINATION, DR PERRY SAID.
HE GAVE THE FOLLOWING POINTS TO REMEMBER WHEN EATING AT HOME:

KEEP THE KITCHEN CLEAN
B) CLEAN HANDS BEFORE PREPARING FOOD.

USE WHOLESOME FOOD AND WATER.

USE CLEAN COOKING UTENSILS.

STORE ALL PERISHABLE FOOD NOT FOR IMMEDIATE CONSUMPTION IN REFRIGERATOR AND SEPARATE COOKED FOOD IN REFRIGERATOK FROM RAW FOOD ITEMS.
DO NOT THAW FROZEN FOOD UNTIL NEEDED.
DO NOT USE A CHOPPING BLOCK AND KNIFE FOR CUTTING COOKED FOOD IMMEDIATELY AFTER THEY HAVE BEEN USED FOR CUTTING RAW FOOD, PARTICULARLY MEAT OR POULTRY.

EAT COOKED FOOD WHILE IT IS STILL HOT. DON'T LEAVE IT EXPOSED FOR A LONG TIME.

FOOD KEPT OVER-NIGHT SHOULD BE PUT IN A REFRIGERATOR. RECOOK LEFTOVERS THOROUGHLY BEFORE EATING,

ALL GARBAGE AND WASTE SHOULD BE PUT INTO A COVERED CONTAINER.
