TUEN MUN OUTLINE ZONING PLAN AMENDED

THE TOWN PLANNING BOARD TODAY (FRIDAY) ANNOUNCED AN AMENDMENT TO THE OUTLINE ZONING PLAN FOR TUEN MUN.
THE AMENDMENT INVOLVES REZONING AN 800 SQUARE METRE SITE ON THE NORTHBOUND CARRIAGEWAY OF CASTLE PEAK ROAD NEAR TSENG TAU FROM +OPEN SPACE TO +OTHER SPECIFIED USES+.
THE SITE IS TO BE DEVELOPED AS A REPLACEMENT FOR A PETROL FILLING STATION 600 METRES FURTHER TO THE NORTH WHICH MUST BE MOVED TO MAKE WAY FOR A ROAD INTERCHANGE.
THERE IS A REST GARDEN IN THE AREA ON WHICH THE PETROL STATION IS TO BE BUILT. IT IS ALSO HOPED EVENTUALLY TO CONSTRUCT A MINI-SOCCER PITCH AND TO CARRY OUT LANDSCAPING AND SCREENING WORK IN ORDER TO MINIMISE ANY ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT.
THE AMENDED PLAN CAN BE SEEN AT THE CENTRAL AND WESTERN DISTRICT OFFICE, PUBLIC ENQUIRY SUB-OFFICE, CENTRAL GOVERNMENT OFFICES, WEST WING ENTRANCE, HONG KONG; THE TOWN PLANNING DIVISION, MURRAY BUILDING, 4TH FLOOR, GARDEN ROAD, HONG KONG, AND AT TUEN MUN DISTRICT OFFICE, 20, CASTLE PEAK ROAD, TUEN MUN.
ANYONE AFFECTED BY THE AMENDMENT SHOULD OBJECT IN WRITING TO THE SECRETARY, TOWN PLANNING BOARD, C/O LANDS DEPARTMENT, 4TH FLOOR, MURRAY BUILDING.
COPIES OF THE DRAFT AMENDMENT PLAN ARE AVAILABLE AT THE SURVEY DIVISION, LANDS DEPARTMENT, 5TH FLOOR, MURRAY BUILDING AND KOWLOON MAP SALES SECTION, 382, NATHAN ROAD, KOWLOON, AT $10 PER UNCOLOURED COPY AND $60 PER COLOURED COPY.
AIR ACCIDENT REPORT PUBLISHED ***
A REPORT OF AN INVESTIGATION INTO THE ACCIDENT INVOLVING
A THAI INTERNATIONAL AIRBUS A300 WHICH OCCURRED AT HONG KONG AIRPORT ON JULY 3, 1981, HAS BEEN PUBLISHED AND COPIES ARE ON SALE AT THE GOVERNMENT PUBLICATIONS SALES CENTRE.
THE ACCIDENT HAPPENED WHILE THE AIRCRAFT WAS TAKING OFF ON A SCHEDULED FLIGHT TO BANGKOK, WHEN THERE WAS AN UNCONTAINED FAILURE OF THE NO. 1 (PORT) ENGINE WHICH RESULTED IN SEVERE DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE, ENGINE PYLON, AND NACELLE.
THE ACCIDENT WAS FULLY INVESTIGATED BY THE ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION DIVISION OF THE CIVIL AVIATION DEPARTMENT.
THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE, WHILE NOT DEFINITELY ESTABLISHED, IS BELIEVED TO HAVE BEEN A FRACTURE OF THE FIRST STAGE HIGH PRESSURE TURBINE DISC RIM WHICH LED TO SEPARATION OF THE HIGH PRESSURE TURBINE SECTION OF THE ENGINE.
THERE WERE NO INJURIES TO PASSENGERS OR CREW MEMBERS.
