FORTY-EIGHT NEW BUILDING PLANS WERE APPROVED BY THE BUILDINGS ORDINANCE OFFICE OF THE BUILDING DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT IN AUGUST THIS YEAR, COMPARED WITH 42 IN JULY.
OF THESE NEW PLANS, 28 WERE FOR NEW BUILDINGS ON HONG KONG ISLAND, SIX FOR KOWLOON AND 14 FOR THE NEW TERRITORIES.
THEY INCLUDE A KINDERGARTEN AND NURSERY AT THE JUNCTION OF LEIGHTON ROAD AND TUNG LO WAN ROAD IN CAUSEWAY BAY, A HOTEL AT DES VOEUX ROAD WEST, A PETROL FILLING STATION AT CLEAR WATER BAY ROAD, SAI KUNG, AN ELECTRICITY SUB-STATION AT THE JUNCTION OF CASTLE PEAK ROAD AND CHING CHEUNG ROAD AND A SCHOOL IN TAI PO.
THE DECLARED COST OF ALL NEW BUILDINGS COMPLETED DURING THE MONTH WAS $1 877.2 MILLION, COMPARED WITH $559.6 MILLION IN AUGUST LAST YEAR.
THE USABLE FLOOR AREA OF THESE BUILDINGS TOTALLED 423 329.9 SQUARE METRES, COMPRISING 266 009.1 SQUARE METRES OF NON-DOMESTIC AND 157 320.8 SQUARE METRES OF DOMESTIC FLOOR
