MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC WILL BE TREATED TO AN ENTERTAINING AND REWARDING TELEVISION SERIES ENTITLED +LET'S GO METRIC+ FROM TOMORROW (SATURDAY).
THE GAME QUIZ PROGRAMME IN 13 EPISODES IS JOINTLY PRESENTED BY RADIO TELEVISION HONG KONG AND THE METRICATION COMMITTEE. IT WILL BE SCREENED ON TVB JADE EVERY SATURDAY AT 5 PM.
IT WAS HOPED THAT THROUGH THIS PROGRAMME, THE METRIC SYSTEM WOULD BE INTRODUCED TO EVERY CORNER OF OUR SOCIETY+, SAID THE COMMITTEE'S CHAIRMAN, PROFESSOR S.Y. KING, AT A PRESS CONFERENCE TODAY (FRIDAY).
+WE WANT TO SPREAD THE MESSAGE THAT THE METRIC SYSTEM IS BOTH EASY TO LEARN AND EASY TO USE, WHICH IS THE FUNDAMENTAL SPIRIT OF THE SYSTEM,+ HE SAID,
APART FROM EDUCATING THE PUBLIC, THE PROGRAMME WOULD PROVIDE PARTICIPANTS AND HOME VIEWERS WITH A CHANCE TO HAVE FUN AND TO WIN ATTRACTIVE PRIZES BY GOING METRIC, PROFESSOR KING ADDED.
THE PROGRAMME WILL BE IDENTIFIED BY A VIBRANT THEME SONG PRODUCED BY EMI AND SUNG BY LOWELL LO AND FAMOUS DJ BRENDA LO.
THE TWO SINGERS WILL APPEAR IN PERSON AND SING THE METRICATION SONG IN SOME OF THE EPISODES.
ALSO APPEARING IN THE SERIES WILL BE A HOST OF CELEBRITIES, INCLUDING RENOWNED WRITERS, SINGERS, ACTORS AND ACTRESSES, FILM DIRECTORS, LEGISLATIVE COUNCILLORS, SCIENTISTS, FASHION DESIGNERS, PHOTOGRAPHERS AND LEADING MERCHANTS AND INDUSTRIALISTS, WHO WILL AIR THE IR VIEWS ON METRICATION.
PARTICIPANTS AND HOME VIEWERS WHO DO WELL IN THE QUIZ GAMES WILL BE ABLE TO WIN PRIZES RANGING FROM REFRIGERATORS AND WASHING MACHINES TO FAST FOOD COUPONS, WITH A TOTAL VALUE OF OVER $140 000.
LOCAL TRADES AND INDUSTRIES HAVE SHOWN THEIR SUPPORT FOR THE PROGRAMME BY SENDING 39 TEAMS TO TAKE PART IN THE GAMES.

PROFESSOR KING DISCLOSED THAT THE TV PROGRAMME WAS ONLY

HE SAID THAT PUBLICITY POSTERS AND CONVERSION TABLES HAD RECENTLY BEEN PRODUCED FOR THE METRIC CHANGEOVER OF THE PIECE GOODS, TAILORING, ELECTRICAL APPLIANCES AND CLOTHING TRADES.
