A SPOKESMAN FOR THE BOARD SAID: THE MAJOR G/IC FACILITY PROPOSED ON THE RECLAMATION IS A WHOLESALE MARKET TO REPROVISION THE EXISTING ONE AT KENNEDY TOWN AND THE WHOLESALE FRUIT MARKET AT ON TAI STREET.+
OTHER G/IC FACILITIES WILL INCLUDE A FERRY CONCOURSE WITH BUS TERMINUS, A DIVISIONAL FIRE STATION, AN INDOOR GAMES HALL, AN AMBULANCE DEPOT AND POSSIBLY A COMMUNITY CENTRE. ABOUT FOUR HECTARES OF OPEN SPACE WILL BE PROVIDED FOR RECREATION.
+DUE TO THE LOSS OF MARINE FRONTAGE AS A RESULT OF THE RECLAMATION, INDUSTRIAL SITES ALONG CONNAUGHT ROAD WEST HAVE BEEN REZONED TO COMMERCIAL/RESIDENTIAL USE, THE SPOKESMAN SAID.
+THIS LOSS OF INDUSTRIAL LAND IS TO BE MADE UP BY THE RESERVATION OF INDUSTRIAL SITES ON THE RECLAMATION FOR GENERAL INDUSTRY AND GODOWN PURPOSE.+
AN ELEVATED ROAD SYSTEM ALONG HILL ROAD AND CONNAUGHT ROAD WEST HAS BEEN INCORPORATED ON THE PLAN TO LINK UP WITH THE ROAD SYSTEM IN THE CENTRAL DISTRICT TO THE EAST AND THE POKFULAM AREA TO THE WEST.
THE PLAN ALSO INCLUDES THE LATEST ALIGNMENT OF THE MASS TRANSIT RAILWAY ISLAND LINE, INCLUDING THREE STATIONS, OF WHICH SHEUNG WAN STATION WILL BE OPENED WHEN THE SHORT ISLAND LINE STARTS OPERATION - SCHEDULED FOR 1985-86.
THE RESIDENTIAL ZONE ON THE PREVIOUS DRAFT PLAN HAS BEEN REZONED TO RESIDENTIAL (GROUP A). THIS PERMITS AS OF RIGHT CERTAIN COMMERCIAL DEVELOPMENTS ON THE LOWER THREE FLOORS OF RESIDENTIAL BUILDINGS WITH OR WITHOUT BASEMENTS. IN THE PREVIOUS PLAN, SUCH COMMERCIAL DEVELOPMENTS WERE PERMITTED ONLY ON THE BASEMENT, GROUND AND FIRST FLOORS.
THE DRAFT AMENDMENT PLAN IS ON SALE IN THE PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT'S CROWN LANDS AND SURVEY OFFICE, 19TH FLOOR, MURRAY BUILDING, GARDEN ROAD, AT $10 FOR AN UNCOLOURED COPY AND $60 FOR A COLOURED COPY.
ANY PERSON AFFECTED BY THE AMENDMENTS TO THE PLAN MAY SUBMIT HIS OBJECTION IN WRITING, ON OR BEFORE JULY 9, THE SECRETARY, TOWN PLANNING BOARD, C/O PWD, MURRAY BUILDING, GARDEN ROAD.
