NEW PLAN TO EASE TRAFFIC

NEW TRAFFIC ARRANGEMENTS WILL BE INTRODUCED IN TO KWA WAN, KOWLOON, FROM 10 AM ON FRIDAY, JUNE 5, TO HELP IMPROVE TRAFFIC MOVEMENT ON TO KWA WAN ROAD, BETWEEN THE AIRPORT AND EAST KOWLOON WAY, THE TRANSPORT DEPARTMENT ANNOUNCED TODAY,
UNDER THESE ARRANGEMENTS, EASTBOUND TRAFFIC ON MOK CHEONG STREET WILL BE BANNED FROM MAKING LEFT TURNS INTO TO KWA WAN ROAD NORTHBOUND, AND TRAFFIC LIGHT TIMINGS AT THE JUNCTION OF TO KWA WAN ROAD AND MOK CHEONG STREET WILL BE ADJUSTED IN LINE WITH TRAFFIC DEMAND.

STUBBS ROAD SLIP ROAD ****
A NEW SLIP ROAD NORTH OF THE STUBBS ROAD-TAI HANG ROAD ROUNDABOUT ON HONG KONG ISLAND WILL BE OPENED TO TWO-WAY TRAFFIC FROM 6 AM ON FRIDAY, JUNE 5.
ALL TRAFFIC WILL BE DIVERTED TO THE SLIP ROAD WITH THE
AID OF SIGNS.
A TRANSPORT DEPARTMENT SPOKESMAN SAID THE NEW TRAFF IC ARRANGEMENT WILL ALLOW A SECTION OF STUBBS ROAD RUNNING PARALLEL TO THE SLIP ROAD TO BE CLOSED TO MAKE WAY FOR WORK ON THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE STUBBS ROAD FLYOVER.

TWO SPECIAL TRAINS WILL LEAVE KOWLOON STATION AT 8.11 AM AND 10.36 AM, AND ARRIVE AT TAI PO MARKET AT 8.58 AM AND 11.26 AM,
TRAINS WILL LEAVE TAI PO MARKET AT 9.42 AM AND 1.59 PM
AND ARRIVE AT KOWLOON STATION IN HUNG HOM AT 10.31 AM AND 2.51 PM.

A REST GARDEN IS TO BE BUILT BY THE PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT AT THE JUNCTION OF KWUN TONG ROAD AND HIP WO STREET TO PROVIDE ADDITIONAL RECREATIONAL FACILITIES TO RESIDENTS.
AN $187 000 CONTRACT FOR THE WORK WAS AWARDED TODAY (WEDNESDAY) TO K. WONG CONSTRUCTION COMPANY BY THE ARCHITECTURAL OFFICE OF THE PWD.
A PWD SPOKESMAN SAID THAT THE GARDEN WOULD HAVE A FEW ARBOURS, A CIRCULAR FLOWER BED AND SOME PARK BENCHES,
WORK ON THE PROJECT WILL BEGIN LATER THIS MONTH AND BE COMPLETED IN ABOUT THREE MONTHS, AND THE GARDEN WILL THEN BE HANDED OVER TO THE URBAN COUNCIL FOR MANAGEMENT.
