THE GOVERNMENT PLANS TO SELL 30 INDUSTRIAL SITES IN THE URBAN AREA IN THE NEXT SIX MONTHS TO MAKE MORE LAND AVAILABLE TO MEET THE NEEDS OF THE PRIVATE SECTOR FOR INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENT.
ANNOUNCING THIS TODAY, THE ACTING GOVERNMENT LAND AGENT,
MR R.D. POPE OF THE PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT SAID THE TOTAL AREA OF THE INDUSTRIAL LAND WOULD BE 84 430 SQUARE METRES.
+OF THESE SITES, TWENTY-TWO ARE IN THE KOWLOON BAY RECLAMATION AREA AND THE LOTS VARY IN SIZE FROM 1 400 SQUARE METRES TO 4 300 SQUARE METRES.
*KOWLOON BAY IS CONSIDERED TO BE AN ATTRACTIVE LOCATION FOR INDUSTRIALISTS AS IT ENJOYS GOOD TRANSPORT COMMUNICATIONS, AND THERE IS SURE TO BE GREAT INTEREST IN THESE AND OTHER SITES TO BE SOLD IN THE NEXT SIX MONTHS, HE ADDED.
THE INDUSTRIAL SITES ARE AMONG 52 LOTS OF CROWN LAND HAVING A TOTAL AREA OF ABOUT 237 563 SQUARE METRES TO BE PUT UP FOR AUCTION OR TENDER IN THE SIX-MONTH PERIOD FROM OCTOBER 1 THIS YEAR TO MARCH 31 NEXT YEAR.
OF THE OTHER LOTS TO BE SOLD, 11 ARE RESIDENTIAL AND SEVEN NON-INDUSTRIAL SITES.
THE TWO LARGEST SITES FOR RESIDENTIAL DEVELOPMENT, MEASURING ABOUT 32 000 SQUARE METRES AND 29 400 SQUARE METRES RESPECTIVELY, ARE LOCATED AT TAI WOR PING AND TAT CHEE AVENUE WHILE THE REST OF THE RESIDENTIAL LOTS VARY IN SIZE FROM 1 183 SQUARE METRES TO 10 500 SQUARE METRES.
OF THE SEVEN NON-INDUSTRIAL SITES TO BE SOLD, FIVE ARE ON HONG KONG ISLAND AND THE OTHERS IN AP LEI CHAU MAIN STREET. THE TOTAL AREA OF THESE IS 6 699 SQUARE METRES.
+ IN ADDITION, THERE WILL ALSO BE SITES ON SALE FOR USE AS FILM STUDIO, PRIVATE SCHOOL, PRIVATE HOSPITAL AND PUBLIC MULTI-STOREY CARPARK, MR POPE SAID.
HE EMPHASISED THAT THE SALES PROGRAMME WAS ONLY A PROVISIONAL ONE AND SUBJECT TO CHANGE AND THAT SALE DATES FOR EACH LOT WOULD BE ANNOUNCED IN DUE COURSE IN THE GOVERNMENT GAZETTE AND BY ADVERTISEMENT IN NEWSPAPER.
