Indeed, your Symposium's theme: "Social work and Social Action: Implications for the Social Worker, the Agency and the Professional Association" provides an excellent opportunity for these complex matters and their interplay

to be examined and dicussed.

Hong Kong's social work

profession is, of course comparatively young:

no doubt

we have much to learn from more seasoned social work

professions elsewhere but this learning will, I hope, result in a judicious election and application of what is best

for Hong Kong and its people at its present stage of

development.
