Mr Robert Moffat WILKINSON
As Sub-Divisional Inspector (Officer Commanding) of Lau
Fau Shan Sub-Division, Mr Wilkinson exhibited an extremely high
standard of duty performance over the first six months of 1979 at
the height of the influx of illegal immigrants from China to the
area. He was under unrelenting pressure throughout the period, and
his duty hours were interspersed with only short periods for rest.

During the influx of Chinese illegal immigrants and
Vietnamese refugees, East Sector, where Station Sergeant Wong was
attached, bore the brunt of the Chinese illegal immigration
problem. 246 vessels carrying nearly 3 790 illegal immigrants
were arrested in that area alone. In addition, 22 Vietnamese
vessels and 2 963 refugees were intercepted during the period
September 1978
July 1979. is a launch commander, Mr Wong worked

long, arduous hours often under difficult conditions.
