numerous officers with whom he has worked over the years.

Mr. MAK Pui

Throughout his career Mr. Mak has demonstrated an unswerving

loyalty and devotion to his job as a Goverment driver. He is very reliable

and efficient in his work, and during his 20 years of driving has not once

been involved in a road accident. Mr. Mak has the special gift of even-

tempered cheerfulness, and has been a constant source of encouragement

to his colleagues.

Mr. MAN Chek-wan

Mr. Man joined as an Office Coolie in the Home Affairs Department

in 1946. He was transferred to the Labour Department as a driver on

1st February 1947 and has since been working in the Industry Division.

Throughout his 31 years service with the department Mr. Man proved to be

a loyal and dedicated officer whose performance and behaviour have always

been exemplary.

Mr. POON Lai-chiu

Mr. Poon Lai-chiu joined the General Clerical Service in 1953

and was posted to the Prisons Department. He played an important part

in the setting up of the administration in Chi Ma Wan Prison when it was

opened in September 1966. Despite the lack of proper and adequate staff

accommodation and sea transport, he remained at Chi Ma Wan for over four years.

He has also played a very active role in the Prisons Department Sports

Association.

He was awarded the Colonial Prison Service Medal in April 1971.
