Counsel. In 1974 he was appointed to the Public Service

Commission and

has since served the Commission with distinction, acting as Chairman on

several occasions; in combining these duties with a busy practice (at

the expense of his leisure hours) he has at all times nade a critical

but constructive contribution to the Commission's work. In 1975 he was

made a Justice of the Peace and serves on the Inland Revenue Board of

Review and the Supreme Court Rules Committee.

The Honourable Peter C. MONG, J.P.

Mr. Wong is a senior partner in a fini of solicitors and a

former president of the Law Society of Hong Kong. He has been a member

of the Legislative Council since 1976 and is a member on a number of

official boards and committees, including the Board of Review (Inland

Revenue), Lands Tribunal Panel and, most recently, the Public Accounts

Committee. He represents Hong Kong as Councillor and Member of the

Executive Committee of the Law Association for Asia and the Westem

Pacific and is honorary legal adviser to numerous social and charitable

institutions. Mr. Wong is well-known and respected in legal circles,

and his background and experience have enabled him to contribute usefully

to the deliberations of Legislative Council.

Mr. Talbot Henry BASHALL

Mr. Bashall first joined the Hong Kong Government in 1953 as

a Prison Officer Class I, and served in the Prisons Department for over

16 years, during which time he was promoted to Principal Officer and

Chief Officer, In 1969, he was transferred from the Prisons Department

to the Urban Services Department to head the Hawker Control Force as its

Commandant. With great determination, he re-established the Force as an

effective means of controlling hawkers. He is now working in the Security

'Branch of the Government Secretariat.
