The Honourable Sir Yuet-keung KAN, C.B.E., J.P.
Sir Y.K. Kan is the Chairman of the Bank of East Asia Ltd. and
a director of a number of companies. His record of public service is
lengthy, wide-ranging and impressive and he continues to give most
generously of his time and energies to serving the people of Hong Kong.
He has been a member of Executive Council continuously since 1966, with earlier service on the Urban Council (1957 to 1962), the Public Services Commission (1958-1961) and Legislative Council (1961- 1972); he is now the Senior Unofficial Member of the Executive Council.
He is currently Chairman of the Council of the Chinese
University of Hong Kong, the ICAC Complaints Committee, the Advisory Committee on Corruption of the ICAO, the Hong Kong/Japan Business
Co-operation Committee, and most recently, the Standing Commission on
Civil Service Salaries and Conditions of Service.
He is a Life Member of the Court of the University of Hong Kong,
a member of the Tung Wah Group of Hospitals Advisory Board, the Po Leung Kuk Advisory Board and the Legal Practitioners Disciplinary Committee
Panel.
His past service includes the chairmanship of the Public Transport Advisory Committee, the Consumer Council, the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, and the Working Group on New Territories Urban Land Requisition, and membership of the Board of the Mass Transit Railway Corporation and many others.
He is a past President of the Incorporated Law Society of Hong Kong. The wise counsel Sir Y.K. Kan is able to offer, based on the vast knowledge and experience of public affairs he has gained over the years, continues to be of inestimable value and authority.
